We offer a range of staff benefits, excellent training facilities and a modern, well equipped working environment. We’re committed to enabling colleagues to maximise their potential and enjoy satisfying careers, underpinned by our staff health and wellbeing strategy; ‘Happy, Healthy, Here’.
If our vision, values and ethos appeal to you now is the time to join #Team SFH.
What our staff say about us from our recent anonymous Staff Survey:
'The organisation is a good place to work with strong values and a clear commitment to quality of care and patient experience.'
Are you a motivated and committed individual who wishes to work for an organisation which has successfully turned itself around and is now committed to providing outstanding patient care? If so then an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly and supportive Emergency Department.
If successful you will be one of ten Emergency department Consultants providing clinical services to the Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark and surrounding areas in Nottinghamshire from two trust sites, King’s Mill Hospital in Sutton-in-Ashfield and Newark Hospital in Newark.
We have recently undergone a complete renovation tripling the size of our department and currently approximately 100,000 new patients are seen each year.
We are a level 2 trauma unit and actively contribute to the regional trauma network. We have a full complement of substantive nursing staff and support services including with advanced clinical practitioners and emergency nurse practitioners. We fully support our doctors in training and have implemented a CESR programme for middle grades to grow our own workforce.
Our hospital is situated close to the Derbyshire Peak District and Sherwood Forest. We are within easy reach of Sheffield, Derby and Nottingham being only 7 miles from the M1. A mainline rail service operates from Newark to London taking 1 hour 10 minutes.
Our Medical Director and Trust Board are dedicated to achieving an engaged medical workforce that is empowered to drive the Trust forward and deliver outstanding care to our patients.
The Trust is engaged in proactively monitoring the flow of patients across the hospitals site to ensure the Emergency department is able to meet the four hour wait target and to ensure the quality of patient care.
The Trust has developed and implemented, in partnership with Primary Care providers, a single front door system which includes a co-located primary care 24/7 which has reduced ED attendance by 23%. We have many services at the front door including a discharge support team, therapy services and frailty team. We have recently developed an ambulatory care service which has reduced the Trust admission rate by 18%.
What we can offer you
Although not mandatory, sub specialty interests (for example Acute Medicine, Paediatrics, Pre-hospital, Ultrasound etc.) are encouraged and supported and can be discussed on an individual basis with the Head of Service. We are an expanding Consultant body and therefore there is plenty of opportunity to develop the service along with our existing Consultants.
The department fully supports all Consultant colleagues’ professional development and in addition to study leave and a study budget, 2.5 programmed activities are allocated to Supporting Professional activities.
This is a substantive position but candidates already working at Consultant level on a locum basis who are wishing to gain Specialist Registration will be fully supported through the CESR programme and are encouraged to apply.
This is a full-time position but candidates wishing to work part-time or in a job-share are also encouraged to apply.
You must have full GMC registration with a licence to practice and be on the specialist register or within 6 months of gaining CCT at time of interview for a substantive Consultant position, if you are interested in applying for a Locum Consultant position you must have full GMC registration with a licence to practice at the time of appointment.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
