Sherwood Forest Hospitals (SFH) We are a multiple award-winning, modern and friendly trust, with a growing reputation for providing outstanding care across our three hospitals and in the Mid Nottinghamshire community. We have a stable leadership team, a clear sense of direction and we are working very closely with our health and local authority partners in the Mid Nottinghamshire Integrated Care Partnership (ICP), to deliver a better future for the population we serve. Our staff and volunteers strive to ensure patients are at the centre of our decision making.
At SFH we value our staff. We know happy, well supported staff provide high quality care to patients. We want all patients to receive the level of care we expect our friends and family to receive and we are making progress with this aim. We have the highest staff engagement scores across the Midlands and in 2018, the Care Quality Commission assessed us as Good Overall and Outstanding for the Care we provide.
We offer a growing range of staff benefits, excellent training facilities and a modern, well equipped working environment. We are committed to supporting colleagues to maximise their potential and enjoy satisfying careers, underpinned by our staff health and wellbeing strategy; ‘Happy, Healthy, Here’.
If our vision and values appeal to you, now is the time to join #Team SFH.
Are you a motivated and committed individual who wishes to work for an organisation which has successfully turned itself around and is now committed to providing outstanding patient care? If so, then an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly and supportive team.
We are seeking to recruit Consultants in Critical Care Medicine with sessions in allied specialities (Anaesthesia, Acute Medicine or Emergency Medicine) to support the service covering Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark and surrounding areas in Nottinghamshire from King’s Mill Hospital in Sutton-in-Ashfield.
As a progressive multi-disciplinary unit providing a high quality service, we admit around 750 patients a year to our Critical Care Unit which is increasing year on year. Our admissions are 55% medical, 25% elective surgery and 20% emergency surgery. Our mean APACHE II score is 14.3 with a unit mortality of 8.9% and adjusted hospital mortality ratio is 0.77, being the best in the region (ICNARC 2017-18).
We are an active unit contributing to multi centre research trials and participate fully in our Critical Care Network. Looking to the near future, the Trust has set a vision to provide a state of the art Theatres and Critical Care complex as part of our journey to Outstanding, and we would expect our new colleagues to be integral to this process.
King’s Mill Hospital is situated close to the Derbyshire Peak District and Sherwood Forest. We are within easy reach of Sheffield, Derby and Nottingham being only 7 miles from the M1. A mainline rail service operates from Newark to London taking 1 hour 10 minutes.
Our Medical Director and Trust Board are dedicated to achieving an engaged medical workforce that is empowered to drive the Trust forward and deliver outstanding care to our patients.
