A whole-time or part-time Consultant Rheumatologist is required and will be based at King’s Mill Hospital in Sutton in Ashfield and also providing clinical services at Newark Hospital.
This appointment is a new substantive consultant and to sustain existing and future demand in Mansfield & Ashfield, Newark & Sherwood and rural Nottinghamshire. The appointee will join Consultant Rheumatologists Dr Anindya Gupta, Dr Ken Lim, Dr Clare Wilkinson and Prof David Walsh.
This is a pure Rheumatology job with no GIM, no on-call commitments and no OOH work. Details of the possible job plan are outlined in the attached job description and person specification.
This is a full-time position but candidates wishing to work part-time or in job-share are encouraged to apply. If a part-time or job-share person is appointed modification of the job content will be discussed with the appointee on a personal basis. They will be required to devote substantially the whole of his/her time for the appointed sessions to the duties of the post and to give them priority at these times.
Our Rheumatology Department is a busy and progressive musculoskeletal unit. We provide a comprehensive outpatient specialist service for patients with non-surgical musculoskeletal conditions and connective tissue disease.
As well as general adult rheumatology clinics, there are regular specialist clinics including rheumatoid arthritis annual review and combined consultant clinics with Dermatology and Paediatrics. You will have the opportunity to develop your own special interest as well as an ultrasound service. There are also nurse-led clinics in general rheumatology, biologic therapies and DMARD monitoring. A weekly joint injection clinic is run by the extended scope physiotherapist.
We pride ourselves on having established a seamless multi-disciplinary approach to the care of patients with chronic inflammatory rheumatic conditions. Recent peer-review and patient feedback have been very positive and we are highly regarded as a department in the region for providing an excellent service. We, also, have an active CME program with 2-weekly radiology meetings with our specialist musculoskeletal radiologist, and monthly HRCT meeting with respiratory consultants and respiratory radiologist. We also contributes to weekly medical division grand rounds, audit and clinical governance sessions. There is a quarterly regional rheumatology audit meeting with presentations of audits, hot and cold cases.
